Many of the high-end bespoke houses designed by Toby Johnson, founder of the Johnstone & Johnson Design Studio, have employed off-form concrete as an integral part of their design and function. Images of the exterior and/or interior for ten of the houses can be found on the Johnstone & Johnson website but there are other designs which, at the request of anonymity by the owners (as is their prerogative) cannot be mentioned or displayed. One of the designs that displays off-form concrete at its best is arguably the residence planned for Whale Beach in Pittwater, on the northern beaches of Sydney, with the floors from the excavated garage at road level stepped up the sandstone cliff, blending into their surroundings, with the parents retreat on the top level.
If this or any of the other designs on the Johnstone & Johnson website have inspired you to think seriously about building your new family home, send Toby a message via Johnstone Johnson Contact page.
